About First Pick

First Pick is a CPG-first creative agency working across branding, packaging, and website design. Alongside consumer brands, we partner with service providers, nonprofits, and businesses in tech and healthcare. Our work spans a wide range of styles and creative challenges—and we enjoy that variety.

We bring a can-do attitude, a commitment to thoughtful design, and care for the client experience. We build services that support both our clients and our in-house creative team, continually refining our processes to create more value and make the work more enjoyable.

From focused design engagements to multi-month projects, retainers, and day-rate bookings, we meet clients where they are. Clear scopes, efficient workflows, and sustainable workloads help us deliver work we’re proud of.

About the role

We’re looking for a versatile designer who enjoys taking a strong creative direction and making every application feel considered and complete. You have an eye for typography, composition, and the small details that make good design exceptional.

You’re practiced in expanding established brands, contributing fresh ideas, and following through from initial direction to polished delivery. You’ll collaborate with our designers on creative development while independently owning adaptations, production, and supporting design work.

Your strengths may lean towards packaging, web, or brand design. We value a strong foundation, thoughtful execution, and a willingness to grow across disciplines.

What you’ll work on

  • Brand rollout: Create polished presentation decks, engaging reports, distinctive print collateral, and compelling social media graphics and digital ads.

  • Packaging and labels: Support the design team with concept development as needed, create high-fidelity mockups, and extend approved artwork across varietals, sizes, and formats. Work with dielines, review proofs, and prepare accurate print-ready files.

  • Website design: Develop thoughtful desktop and mobile layouts, extend approved concepts across pages, and prepare clear developer handoffs.

  • Custom brand graphics: Create and refine brand marks, icons, patterns, and supporting graphics that feel distinctive, reproduce clearly at different sizes, and work across packaging, websites, and marketing materials.

  • Production and delivery: Incorporate revisions accurately, maintain consistency across applications, and keep files organized for smooth collaboration.

  • Process improvements: Help refine templates and workflows that make excellent work easier to deliver.

  • Internal design support: Help bring First Pick’s own brands and marketing to life through ongoing design support, including marketing collateral, email newsletters, pitch decks, and other studio initiatives.

What you bring

  • At least three years of professional graphic design experience, with a portfolio showing strong typography and layout, distinctive visual ideas, and the ability to carry a brand consistently across different formats and applications.

  • Experience in branding, packaging, and/or website design, with versatility across disciplines especially valued.

  • Ability to create original graphic elements and thoughtfully improve existing artwork, with a strong understanding of shape, proportion, simplicity, and brand consistency.

  • Confidence in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, and Figma, plus curiosity about new tools and ways of working.

  • Practical understanding of production workflows, file preparation, and quality control.

  • Ownership and follow-through. You catch details, ask thoughtful questions, and flag missing information, potential errors, or timeline concerns early.

  • A collaborative attitude, openness to feedback, and genuine care for the work and the people making it.

How we’ll work together

The role begins on a freelance basis, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position for the right collaborator. Real projects give both sides a chance to get to know each other’s workflows, communication styles, and goals.
